Hints and Tips
1) There is no wrong way to Decopatch
This is how I do it
Remember I'm no expert and these are purely guidelines that work for me!
If working with ripped up pieces :-
Rip in an arched fashion around the outer edge of the full piece of paper and use these pieces first.
Always cover the sharp edges of the paper with an arched ripped piece.
When using a specific pattern ie flowers - try and rip around each flower as closely as possible to maintain the flower design.
If working with a whole piece :-
Remember that Decopatch glue dries quickly.......so................start in the middle of your work area and apply the glue to the object.
Pop the middle of the paper onto the glued area and apply glue over the top of the paper where the glue underneath is touching it only!
Pick up one side of the unglued paper, glue a small panel underneath it and on the object, then lay down the paper and glue on top.
Keep repeating this process........................Bingo you're done.
If
You see bubbles under the paper - this means that the glue has dried before the paper and top layer of glue were applied. Either tease off an edge and try and ease some glue in underneath (very carefully), or rip off the piece of paper and start again with a fresh piece.
The paper will appear to wrinkle, but once dried, this will flatten out.
Please
Wash your brush out in water every 20 working minutes or so.
The glue contains a varnish and will collect and dry at the base.
Use your thumb nail to work up and remove the build up at the base of the bristles.
Experience says
DO NOT get the glue on your clothes - EVER!
